EA drops the Ghost brand after dispute with Ubisoft
In January, Ubisoft signed a complaint with the Office of Patent US and threatened to take legal action against Electronic Arts for trying to register the word Ghost.
Apparently, EA sought exclusive rights to that mark, at least as far as video games are concerned- to protect the name of its subsidiary Ghost Games study, that is, developers of Need for Speed .
But, apparently, the rights were not as important to the company after all. On February 24, EA abandoned its application to register the mark in accordance with Ubisoft.
Previously, Ubisoft had argued that the registration of the mark Ghost would have been harmful to them as consumers confuse EA’s products with the franchise Ghost Recon . It may sound a little silly, but finally succeeded inits mission.
