Destiny Trials of Osiris hidden playlist from Mercury discovered
As Destiny has been out already for more than a week, it has not taken players too long to try to find out more about the game or any new features. Thanks to data-mining, Destiny players have discovered a new hidden mode to Destiny’s Crucible mode called Trials Of Osiris.
What is Destiny’s Trails Of Osiris?
This is a 3v3 mode intended to pit the hardcore Destiny players against one another. But this isn’t like Iron Banner, which is more of an intentionally unbalanced mode to keep things super competitive; because only the best will have a chance to access it.
The playlist is set on Mercury – a planet that, as of yet, is not explorable in Destiny, making it the first and only opportunity for players to access the location.
What is interesting is how it functions, however. Much akin to Hearthstone’s Arena Mode, the Trials Of Osiris playlist is accessible for the first three defeats – after that you’re kicked out and you’ll have to wait until you can access it again.
And the longer you survive Trials Of Osiris without being kicked out the higher your rewards will be – perhaps there will be Trials Of Osiris-only items, too?
Here’s the in-game description of the mode:
“Trials of Osiris (Skirmish): 3v3. You have caught the eye of Osiris. Venture to Mercury and prove yourself as one of the Crucible’s elite. Only the worthy may face the Trials of Osiris, for only the worthy are strong enough to endure what is to come. A string of victories will earn great rewards – but lose three times and you’re out.”
How to access Trials Of Osiris
To earn access to the Trials Of Osiris you’ll need to get a Tournament Ticket, which has a chance of appearing as a drop when playing Crucible on any mode.
But these are very unlikely to appear through general play.
To improve your odds you need to keep playing (and winning) different Crucible modes. By winning you’ll increase your Activity Reward Bonus, with the first upgrade being at 25 wins.
These are specific to each game mode, so by playing (and winning) games of Control you’ll increase your Activity Reward Bonus for Control games, ultimately earning you a boost to Tournament Ticket drops in Control games.
In this sense, if you want to get a Tournament Ticket to access Trials Of Osiris then you’re better off focusing on a single game mode to improve your chances.
The more your Activity Reward Bonus ranks up, the higher your chance of getting a Tournament Ticket – which ties into the whole ‘only the worthy may face the the Trials of Osiris’.
Once you get a ticket, the playlist will be unlocked in the Crucible.
