Alienware has announced the Steam Dev Days event that their Steam Machine will launch in September, and it was the only proposal of this type of devices that had not yet materialized official specifications, price or date for the sale.
So far the details beyond availability are scarce, but a representative of the British Computer and Videogames Alienware says that the device will be able to compete with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One about raw performance and price. “The commitment we make from a price standpoint is to be competitive with Xbox One and PlayStation 4. That price will include the machine and Steam Controller”.
“From a price standpoint we believe that it will cost as much as an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 would be a great benefit,” said Bryan de Zayas, executive Alienware. “It will help us to better align with the mentality of the perspective of the game that fits the model of enjoyment in the living room.”
The unit contains a customized Alienware motherboard, a graphics card from Nvidia and an Intel CPU. They also distribute a Steam Controller.
