The year of 2014 has been a very progressive one, shifting towards developing for Next-Gen consoles. Gaming as a whole has grown 2% in total retail sales since last year, Hardware rose 136% since last year, and Software has declined by 36%.
Destiny managed to sell MORE on the Xbox One than the PS4, despite many free exclusive content, on top of being the best selling game of September and the most successful IP of all time. Destiny is also the best selling game thus far in 2014.
Madden NFL 15 sold best on the Xbox 360, surprisingly, and FIFA 15 was second most successful on the 360.
Smash Bros for the 3DS was the most 4th most successful game on the market in September, with 705,000 copies sold, 135,000 of them digitally. Smash Bros beat out Shadows of Mordor, NHL 15, The Sims 4, and Diablo III: RoS in sales.
Gaming is growing at a steady pace and will continue to do so over the course of the year, with large titles like Halo: Master Chief Collection, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Dragon Age: Inquisition and more all dropping soon.
