Nintendo aired an episode of Nintendo Direct yesterday, and continued to pile on the new game releases scheduled to come out later in the year and parts of next year.
Among the barrage of games lies a golden gem, a new Legend of Zelda is soon to be upon us.
No official title has been announced for this project, but Nintendo was happy to air a short video trailer highlighting some of the game-play aspects as well as some of the story.
Set in the same world as A Link to the Past for the SNES, Nintendo has not officially announced the game as a sequel, but will carry on in the same universe so expect plenty of familiar sights and villains jumping out of your screen in 3D.
The game style will involve a bird’s eye view of Link as he roams about mowing lawns for profit and launching himself in the air, showing off some of that 3D-goodness. We saw plenty of old moves like the Master Sword, charged swing attacks, and the long range sword strikes we all know and love.
A new feature has presented itself among the Legend of Zelda games, Link will now have the ability to transform himself into a 2D, chalk-like image along walls, and will be able to maneuver around sharp corners and dropped off paths to help him reach around the bend platforms.
To bide us over while we wait for the release of this mysterious title. Nintendo was gracious enough to plot out Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, as well as Oracle of Ages. Two beloved titles for the Game Boy Color. Both of these titles will be available on the Nintendo eShop May 30th. Much like the classics, Nintendo pushes you to purchase both, as one game will unlock secrets for the other, exactly like the Game Boy Color versions.
We still have plenty to look forward to for the Legend of Zelda series throughout the year. We keep out hopes for a new announcement for the Wii U, as well as that ever eluding Majora’s mask sequel.
Let us know what you thought of the new Nintendo Direct announcement and what features and/or areas of the older A Link to the Past title, that you would like to see in the new game.
Thanks again for reading guys,
