Destiny – by Bungie, entered it’s beta phase for Playstation 3 and 4 on July 17th, 2014. Eleven days later, gamers from both Xbox and Playstation have logged thousands of hours into just a preview of the upcoming game, launching on September 9th, 2014.
What did players do with all of those hours though? A survey asked 5,000 gamers what they spent their time in Destiny doing, what guns they preferred, what classes they liked, and more. These are some of the results.
What Race did players choose?
Races were fairly evenly distributed, with slight differences.
Exo was the most popular Race, with 40% of players choosing the robotic humanoid.
Human followed, with 35% of players sticking to their roots.
Awoken came up short, with only 25% of players choosing the oddly colored aliens.
What Class was most popular?
Classes were the closest question, with only differences of 2% between the three.
35% of players opted for the Golden Gun of the Hunter.
34% of players used dark energy to slay enemies with the Warlock.
Coming up just short, 31% of characters made were Titans.
Which Class spent the most time adventuring?
All of the classes being chosen were about equal, but did players always stick to their first choice, or did they put more hours into a different class?
37% of Guardians chose to spend the most time with their Hunter.
34% chose to get a bit closer with their Warlocks not too far behind Hunters.
Only 29% of players spent the most time playing their Titans!
How much time did Players spend online?
Most (18%) of players spent 16-20 hours in the Destiny Beta.
3% of players only spent 0-5 hours online.
The most Hardcore Gamers (14%) spent OVER 40 hours in the eleven days of Beta.
What Primary Weapon did Guardians prefer?
Auto Rifles won the Primary Weapon race by far, 54% of players using them the most.
Scout Rifles were the runners up, with 35% players preferring them.
Pulse Rifles and Hand Cannons were both in 3rd and 4th place, only 7% and 4% chose them (respectively).
What Secondary Weapon was the most popular?
Sniper Rifles were similar to Auto Rifles, with 50% of players slaying the darkness from afar.
Shotguns were next, 32% of players were the opposite, getting up close and personal.
Fusion Rifles lost the Secondary Race, with only 18% of those surveyed preferring them.
What about the third category of weapons, the Heavy class?
Heavy Machine Guns had the heavier number, with 59% of beta testers sprayin’ and prayin’.
Rocket Launchers had 41% of players making a boom.
What did players enjoy the most?
With all of the things that the Beta had to offer, this one was a toughie.
Most Players (33%) preferred exploring the secrets of Old Russia.
25% were competitive and enjoyed the Multiplayer Crucible the most.
23% were in it for the grind, and had fun with the Devil’s Lair Strike.
The Destiny Beta was a revolutionary one, being the first Open Beta on the Xbox One and Playstation 4, and bringing in thousands of gamers. Destiny is launching on September 9th, 2014, with even more content.
