The Operation Flashpoint Red River is a tactical military shooter game set in Tajikistan in 2013, players make up a team of US marines fighting insurgents along the politically sensitive Chinese border.
Single Player Gameplay:
Operation Flashpoint: Red River is a tactical military shooter game where you can use your squad during the single player mode to help you get through the gameplay by commanding them on what to do. You can have them secure a building or suppress a position, you are also able to interacting with other units and work together, this was a plus for me. Although your ally AI is good and is an upgrade from previous operation Flashpoint games, the enemy AI is not that good as some of the enemies stand motionless at their positions, when they are being shot or heavy firing is going on around them. You really need to have a good enemy to enjoy the game as its best and in red river it fail to do that. One of the things that I like about single player mode is how vulnerable you are as you go through each mission and knowing that any bullet that hits you in the right place can take you down, this makes the game more realistic and a whole lot of fun playing it. So you have to be very tactical as you play it and use your squad to get you through alive and do not try go out there trying to be the hero.
Draw backs about this this game is too much swearing during the entire gameplay and too many scenes that go on for minutes without any action and of course there is no multiplayer my fellow gamers, this was for me a big negative.
Well the good thing about Operation Flashpoint Red River is that it has a good co-op campaign where you and your friends get into the action and try to complete the game by keeping each other alive.
Graphics:
The graphics on red river are not as detail and sharp as you would see in the Call of Duty series. It lacks that sense of being real, several scenes that I saw is when you see marines walking to get in the back of truck and then they suddenly appear in the truck, this looks more like a glitch in the game and badly done. The army trucks are well design, uniforms of the soldiers are great and the scenes could have been better.
Sound:
The sound like any other shooters game is good, you get to hear bombs go off, bullets and much more. What I did not like about the sound is listening to too much swearing where at time it becomes annoying and too long.
Operation Flashpoint Red River is a good tactical military game where codemasters decided to build more of a co-op game and ignore the multiplayer that many gamers enjoy playing. As a Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman, or Grenadier you are able to fulfill objectives based on your own decision-making in a tactical single-player campaign or in four-player online co-op play.
