AMD asserts that PS4 APU is the most powerful by far
AMD says his hardware designed for PlayStation 4 is more powerful than the company has created so far. John Taylor, director of global business at AMD, explained that the accelerated processing unit (APU) that have been created for PlayStation 4 is “by far the most powerful” they designed. ”We designed an APU so for anyone else,” he adds in statements to the newspaper The Inquirer.
Taylor notes that this APU introduces technologies that will be part of the next generation of AMD chips to be released later, so different capabilities designed for the console eventually integrated into the PC gaming market. PlayStation 4 will be the first Sony console in use x86 technology (ie, a standards-compliant CPU of the PC world), designed by AMD APU following structure therefore also integrated GPU functions.
