Amazon Acquires Double Helix Games, creators of Killer Instinct.
Amazon has announced the acquisition of Double Helix Games , developers of two recent games, Killer Instinct and Strider. Be part of the progress that the online store is doing to get into the video game industry, with plans to launch its own console.
Double Helix will not stop their current projects, which means that future updates to the fight game for Xbox One or the game to Capcom are in no danger. Nor will there be layoffs in its workforce of 75 employees. Double Helix was created by the mergerof legendary MDK and Earthworm Jim developer Shiny Entertainment with The Collective.
The story follows rumours of Amazon’s plans to launch an Android-powered games and entertainment device this year. The device will reportedly cost less than $300 and allow users to stream and download games, music, movies, and TV content.
