2015 will be the best year for Microsoft in Gaming according to Patrick Perkins
According to the product manager for Xbox, Patrick Perkins, 2015 is shaping up to be the best year of launching high-quality titles since 2007.
“Before we launched Xbox One, we knew that this was the year,” said Parkins. “Just look at development cycles and realize everything when you join.”
So Perkins compared the last months of 2015 and early 2016 with the end of 2007 and early 2008, putting such titles as BioShock , Halo 3 , Assassin’s Creed , Mass Effect , Rock Band and Grand Theft Auto IV which were released at that time. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare , Crysis , UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune , Portal , Super Mario Galaxy and The Witcher also debuted that year, although they were not mentioned by the executive.
To tell Perkins that time was the “golden age of video games,” but late 2015 and early 2016 could “really beat that,” this phase being the best year of releases since 2007.
And to support their arguments, Perkins said games like Halo 5: Guardians , Rise of the Tomb Raider , Forza Motorsport 6 , Call of Duty: Black Ops III , Fallout 4 , Dark Souls III and Star Wars: Battlefront that will during this year and next.
“The third year is when developers begin to understand what new technology can do,” said Perkins, although he noted that the beginning of the generation of consoles is always slow.
